Working Women: Discussing Entrepreneurship in the Caribbean Region
Caribbean women are making a name for themselves!
They’re kicking down doors and breaking through glass ceilings.
However, despite the hard work that they’re putting into their careers, they still continue to face a number of hurdles, especially when it comes to the world of entrepreneurship.
In this panel discussion, three women entrepreneurs working throughout the Caribbean Region — Linda Kondwani Nyirenda (Martinique), Shermalyn Sidonie-John (Saint Lucia) and Karen De Freitas (Saint Vincent & The Grenadines) — will share the experiences that led to their entrepreneurial spirit, their many wins and losses, as well their hopes and dreams for the future.

Challenging Gender Norms in the Caribbean Region
Despite the increasing representation of Caribbean women in leadership positions throughout the region, we have to admit that Caribbean women are still facing a number of social, political and economic barriers when it comes to achieving gender equity and equality, both in the workplace and in society at large.
In this session with La Fleur Quammie, UN Country Coordination Officer for Saint Vincent & The Grenadines, we will be discussing some of the major issues faced by women living in the region.
